veto (Del lat. veto, yo vedo o prohíbo).
1. m. Derecho que tiene una persona o corporación para vedar o impedir algo. U. principalmente para significar el atribuido según las Constituciones al jefe del Estado o a la segunda Cámara, respecto de las leyes votadas por la elección popular.
2. Acción y efecto de vedar.
veto absoluto. m. El que impide la promulgación y vigencia de una ley.
veto suspensivo. m. El que retarda la promulgación y vigencia de una ley.
